Hello Mr. Mayes,
My name is Robert Garcia, my father SSGT Eduardo S. Garcia Jr. was a Combat Weatherman with the 5th Air Squadron. He was in Vietnam almost a month when he was KIA 18 MAR 68, I was five years old at the time. I recently found a diary that belongs to my father. In it mentions Hill 63 often, building bunkers, mortar attacks, and the rain. I found your page looking for info on Hill #63. Your pictures have given insight into what my father was writing about and I thank you for capturing those images of Hill #63. I created a memorial page http://ssgteduardogarciajr.com/
My thanks and appreciation for your service.
Respectfully, Robert L. Garcia E-mail: bobsatx@gmail.com

I was a Medic with the 39th. Their only Medic from 1968-1969 and was there when LZ Goldie was first built. I lost all my pictures over the years and looking for anyone that may have remembered me or that I might have treated. I have one picture while I was at LZ Goldie and remember sleeping in the rocks as the LZ was being built. I did train an engineer by the name of Joel Krishner but not sure about the spelling of his name but no contact after I left Vietnam. Thank you.

Hello and great to find your website:
My name is Gene Nelson, I served with C Company of the 39th from May 67 to May 68.
I recall several of the guys mentioned in your guest book index. SP5 Boston was my squad leader.
As others have stated, I remember snipers gap from just before we set up on LZ Dragon. We were camped alongside the road north of that area and First Sgt McKinney was platoon sgt. He wanted us to get the CIB so he led us on an assault mission to rid ourselves on the snipers on the hill. Well, anyone that was part of that fiasco can recall what happened.
I remember Lt Gottheart, Moretti, Lynch, McCoy, Nic Rudy. I remember Moretti because I was carrying radio on point during mine sweep and our team missed one and Moretti's 5 ton did not - he didn't get hurt as I recall but the truck did.
I remember Bill Smith exclusively because - (remember the hot shower set up?) His last day - I was on gate guard and someone relieved me so I could shower. I found out later they were looking for me to shotgun the jeep to Duc Pho to pick up the chaplain and chose Bill because I was not at the gate.
Recall the big steel bridge on the Song Vie river.
I do have a few photos.

I was with the 23rd MP's 69-70. I met Don King from Falmouth KY while in Basic at Fort Knox and again at Duc Pho. I have not been able to contact him since. I would love to get in contact him again.
