Hello!
My name is Terry G. Susong. I was at Duc Pho for 9 months in 1970. I served as a medic. Many memories of Duc Pho, most of them not good. You have a great site here.
God bless you!

AUTHOR OF THE NEW RELEASED BOOK:
"SIR, WHEN IS OUR NEXT STOP?"
I transported over 1,000 new "first day in the military" to their basic training sites. Over a 3 year period and 300,000 miles I drove them from Knoxville, TN to Fort Knox, KY, Fort Jackson or Parris Island. I share stories about these young men and women and how their lives were changed in our 6-9 van ride.

I ran across your site today looking for a map of the Chu Lai area. I remember signing a guest book some time back, but wasn't smart enough to save it. Hence I found your site again and thought I would update my contact information. I'm still in Alaska and have no intentions of leaving.
Thanks for putting the site together, it's great.

Thanks for doing what you are doing. There aren't enough of us getting together. I was with the 137th Engineers, Chu Lai, My Lai from 70 to 71 as 62M20 engineer. Your pictures stirred me.

My name is Ira Caples and I was with HHC Americal Div Support Command, Chu Lai, Oct 67-Oct 68. I was SP5 on tdy in Duc Pho, Feb/Mar 68 working at ammo dump at LZ Bronco. Stayed in a hootch by myself near some EOD guys who I played cards with every night after my shift. I would eat meals with great group of guys at 174th Avn, I believe it was; I believe they showed outdoor movies at night for other nearby units as well. Duc Pho was a hell hole. While at LZ Bronco, endured shelling each night by VC locals with mortars and occasional satchel charges flung over the perimeter wire. After a particularly vicious VC shelling one night during the 68 Tet offensive where several choppers and equipment were taken out and damaged by mortar attack, I was summoned back to base camp in Chu Lai. The next day I was able to catch a flight with various other soldiers and few Vietnamese on a C-123. The plane took off down the strip, lifted off and after climbing about 100 feet or so, plummeted and crashed on air strip. I sustained a leg and head injuries; fortunately no one was killed. I would be interested if anyone recalls being on that C-123 or in the vicinity. It was in Feb or Mar 68. I can be reached at ari8400@bak.rr.com. This is a great site and it is hard to not get emotional when I read some of the experiences. I want to thank all my fellow brethren for their service in the "forgotten war" and say "Welcome Home"!

Hi,
I was with the 511th Engineer Co July 1971 to Dec 1971. I was trying to contact Allen Bell but his email address is no longer valid. I was on the NDP with him and would like to talk to him. Can you post my email in the off-chance he may see it.

My name is Walt Smith and while searching for some info on a recently deceased service member friend from the 173rd Airborn, I decided to check my old Vietnam outfit after all this time and ran into your site. I was assigned to the 39th from May of '66 to May of '67, and probably the move from Cam Rahn Bay to Tuy Hoa has remained one of the few things that I remember vividly from my tour of duty. The memory of the beach landing at Tuy Hoa can never be erased! I was a mechanic in Headquarters company my entire time with the outfit. I did find info on Sgt Chapman, and question if anyone knows anything about Sgt. Bjertness or Sgt Wooters of Hqtrs. Motor Pool. I currently reside near Schenectady, NY.
