1. Sometimes we would hire some of the local people to help us do work on the road. (Duc Pho, Date: October 1967)

2. A new bridge under construction along Highway QL1 near Duc Pho. (Duc Pho, Date: October 1967)

3. We didn't usually build bridges. We usually put in culverts. There was a bridge at this location but the enemy had damaged it beyond repair. We removed the bridge and installed a series of culverts. That's the old bridge in the rice paddy. This photo shows the temporary bypass we put in while we were installing the culverts. This view is looking south toward Duc Pho. (Duc Pho, Date: October 1967)

9. The dozer in this photo is scraping some of the dirt off the side of Duc Pho Hill (Montezuma).  A front-end loader would then load the dirt in one of our dump trucks. This site was inside the compound limits at Duc Pho (LZ Bronco). (Duc Pho, Date: October 1967)

The dozer operator is Vaughn Rowland. The fellow riding shotgun is Jose Lopez

13. This is the bridge we built on the road that ran from the beach to the airfield (LZ Bronco). I don't think the damage was the result of some enemy activity. What ever caused it, we had to fix it. (Duc Pho, Date: October 1967)

14. We found these road obstacles one morning during our mine sweep of Highway QL1. We had to check the obstacles for booby traps before moving them. We didn't find any. Also the locals didn't seem to be worried about any booby traps. They continued to pass by while we were clearing the road. (Duc Pho, Date: November 9, 1967)

15. On July 2, 1967 2nd platoon had six casualties during their sweep. One went to the hospital for observation and another may lose a leg. The rest were minor injuries.  It also messed up the rear end of their 5-ton truck and totaled the rear-end of one 3/4-ton ruck.
